Craig Sauvé, a Montreal mayoral candidate, has unveiled a bold proposal for municipal electoral reform, calling it the most ambitious plan in over two decades. His party, Transition Montréal, presented the initiative in front of City Hall on Wednesday, emphasizing the need for change in the political landscape.
During the press conference, Sauvé expressed his long-standing commitment to electoral reform, highlighting the importance of collaboration in governance. He stressed the significance of diversifying political representation to create a more inclusive and dynamic democracy at local, provincial, and national levels.

The party aims to empower residents by ensuring that they have the right to elect their borough mayor, a privilege currently denied to them as the Montreal mayor wields automatic control over the area.

Furthermore, Sauvé called on Ottawa and Quebec to modernize their electoral systems, asserting that Montreal should take the lead in implementing progressive reforms to inspire change at the provincial and federal levels.
