Authorities have reported the arrest of 17 individuals, including Romana Didulo, who claimed to be the “Queen of Canada,” in a rural area of southwestern Saskatchewan.
Supporters of Didulo, known for spreading conspiracy theories, established a compound called the “Kingdom of Canada” within an old school building in Richmound, located west of Regina, in 2023.
According to Insp. Ashley St. Germaine, a search warrant was carried out on the property early Wednesday, leading to the discovery of four replica handguns.
Law enforcement officials are currently in the process of gathering evidence and conducting interviews, although no formal charges have been brought forth at this time.
Earlier this year, the property owner faced charges of assaulting two officers by the RCMP.
Local residents have expressed concerns about the disruptive behavior of the group, prompting the closure of the village office to the general public in July, with access limited to scheduled appointments due to reported incidents of harassment and intimidation towards staff.
