Two vehicles were deliberately set ablaze in a span of less than an hour on Wednesday night in the Saint-Leonard neighborhood of Montreal. Authorities are now looking into whether these incidents are linked, though they are approaching the investigation with caution.
The targeted vehicles—a minivan and a car—were ignited shortly after midnight. The first occurrence took place in the driveway of a home on Viau Blvd., close to Jonquet Street, while the second incident unfolded on de Ligneris Street, near Metropolitan Blvd.
Eyewitnesses informed the police that they observed individuals setting fire to the vehicles before swiftly making their escape. The Montreal Police arson unit will spearhead the probe into both cases.
Officer Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the SPVM, stated, “The investigation is currently underway, and it is too premature to establish a definite link between these two arson incidents.”
Following the incidents, both vehicles were towed for further examination. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in connection with these events. As of Thursday morning, law enforcement confirmed that no arrests had been made in relation to either case.
