The Port Moody Police Department is currently looking into a fire that caused significant damage to multiple businesses earlier this week, as they suspect foul play.
In the early hours of Wednesday, emergency services rushed to a strip mall located on St. Johns Street near Moody Street in response to a fire. Constable Sam Zacharias mentioned that the fire was swiftly contained.
Const. Zacharias stated, “The fire has been confirmed as a deliberate act of arson, and the Port Moody Police Major Crime Section has taken charge of the investigation.”
Zacharias also added, “Regrettably, the target of the arson is not providing any assistance to the ongoing investigation.”
Among the establishments affected by the fire are a barber shop, a jewelry store, and a liquor store. Authorities have yet to determine the exact origin of the fire.
Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in relation to this incident.
