Tragic Stabbing Rampage in Hollow Water First Nation Leaves 2 Dead, 6 Wounded: RCMP Reports

A tragic incident unfolded in Hollow Water First Nation on Thursday morning, resulting in two fatalities, including the suspect, and injuring six others in a mass stabbing.

The community, located approximately 200 km northeast of Winnipeg, witnessed a heavy police presence as Mounties from multiple detachments swiftly responded to reports of multiple people being stabbed.

Responding officers arrived at the scene promptly, denouncing the violence as a senseless act. RCMP have confirmed that six individuals were rushed to the hospital, with two of them airlifted to Winnipeg and the others transported by ground ambulance.

A code orange, signifying an unexpected surge in patients, was briefly in effect in Winnipeg before being lifted. The suspect involved in the incident has also perished, although details surrounding their demise remain undisclosed.

In light of the tragedy, Provincial Road 304 has been shut down in both directions south of Black River First Nation. Hollow Water First Nation’s leadership expressed their awareness of the situation and extended condolences to the affected families in a community letter.

Furthermore, crisis and response teams from the SCO and SERDC are en route to aid the community in the wake of this distressing event. The RCMP is actively investigating the incident, with an update anticipated later on Thursday afternoon.
