The family and friends of a missing woman from Maple Ridge are coming together for a solemn gathering at her residence on Sunday evening. This event comes in the wake of a grim discovery – human remains found in the house a week ago.
While authorities are yet to confirm the identity of the remains, the partner of 43-year-old Jessica Cunningham has been apprehended and charged with disturbing human remains.
Expressing profound concern and sorrow, Cunningham’s friend Kristin Rasko shared how the agonizing uncertainty has left everyone close to her in a state of distress.
“There’s a palpable sense of unease, a constant restlessness. We are drained,” Rasko voiced.
Rasko further added, “I can’t fathom how anyone who knew her can find peace right now with these thoughts looming over us. Personally, I have barely slept more than a few minutes each night since Thursday.”
The distressing news of Cunningham’s disappearance first reached Rasko through a news report. Cunningham was last seen in June and officially reported missing in July. Mylie Barron stands accused in relation to the human remains, but details of the investigation remain scarce, including the duration the remains were in the house and any potential connection to domestic violence.
Public records indicate that Barron is set for a bail hearing in Port Coquitlam court on September 26, with interim bail denied at the previous hearing.
The vigil to honor Jessica Cunningham is set to take place on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
