Teen Arrested After Daylight Shooting Near Toronto High School Injures Innocent Bystander

Toronto authorities have pressed a series of charges against a 17-year-old boy in connection with a bold daytime shooting that resulted in two individuals being wounded near a high school in the city’s western area.

The incident unfolded on the morning of September 3 when police were alerted to gunfire in the vicinity of Keele Street and Donald Avenue. According to reports, two factions engaged in a gun battle across Keele Street, with the exchange of shots taking place right in front of York Memorial Collegiate Institute during broad daylight, prompting the school to go into lockdown.

A 31-year-old woman driving through the area was hit by gunfire, as was the 17-year-old suspect, both sustaining serious but non-life-threatening injuries. They were swiftly taken to the hospital for treatment.

After a thorough inquiry, law enforcement apprehended the teenager — initially considered a victim — and levied nine charges against him, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, and multiple firearm-related offenses. The youth made an appearance in court on September 4.

Authorities have stated that another person was arrested at the scene but was subsequently released.

Police have urged anyone in possession of relevant information to come forward to assist with the investigation.
