Search for Third Hiker Ends: Body Found a Week After Waterfall Incident
Authorities in British Columbia have confirmed the discovery of the body of a 35-year-old man, believed to be the final missing hiker in a tragic incident near Kimberley, B.C. that occurred almost a week ago.
The BC RCMP announced on Sunday morning that the individual, previously presumed deceased, had been located.
Efforts are currently underway to recover the man’s body as search operations continue.
The incident initially unfolded on September 1 when a distress signal was triggered via GPS, indicating that three hikers had fallen over Meachen Creek Falls. Subsequently, the body of a 68-year-old woman was found at a midpoint along the falls.
Two days later, on September 3, authorities confirmed the discovery of a 35-year-old woman’s body in the area as well.
All three hikers involved in the tragic event were Mexican nationals, according to the BC RCMP.
