Soraya Martinez Ferrada is currently leading the pack in the race to become Montreal’s next mayor, although many residents are still undecided on their choice.
A recent survey conducted by the Montreal Police Brotherhood and Léger reveals that Ferrada, from Ensemble Montréal, holds a slight edge with 18% of voter support, followed closely by Luc Rabouin of Projet Montréal at 15%, and Craig Sauvé of Transition Montréal at 7%.
Interestingly, 41% of respondents remain undecided, indicating a wide-open field for potential contenders. The survey also highlighted a desire among voters for new leadership, with 61% preferring fresh faces in city hall as current Mayor Valérie Plante prepares to step down.
The top concerns among survey participants include the housing and homelessness crisis, road construction, crime, and taxes. When it comes to addressing these issues, Ferrada is perceived as the most capable candidate among those surveyed.
With the upcoming municipal elections on November 2, Montrealers have the opportunity to shape the city’s future by casting their votes.
