Bloc Québécois leader Yves François Blanchet has emphasized the strong collaboration between his party’s MPs and the Parti Québécois (PQ) in preparation for the 2026 Quebec election to secure victory for the sovereigntist movement.
Tensions between Blanchet and PQ counterpart Paul St-Pierre Plamondon have been evident recently, but during a passionate speech to party members and MPs, the Bloc leader sought to dispel any perceived discord between the sister parties.
Blanchet reiterated that decisions regarding Quebec’s direction and strategies, including the referendum, rest solely with the Parti Québécois and its leader. He pledged full support for their choices and goals.
Speaking directly to PQ’s Pascal Paradis, who introduced him, Blanchet humorously emphasized their alignment, concluding with a commitment to help usher in a sovereigntist government in Quebec City, met with enthusiastic applause.
Paradis affirmed the excellent collaboration between the parties, citing joint efforts in Arthabaska and ongoing communication as key to their partnership.
Blanchet, referencing the upcoming pre-election period, stressed the Bloc Québécois’ dedication to securing an independent majority government in Quebec City within a year.
