Ex-Minister Casts Doubt on Legault’s Leadership Credibility

Following her dismissal from the cabinet, former Minister Maïté Blanchette Vézina has finally spoken out about her discontent with the announcement of the new CAQ cabinet. Vézina, who served as Minister of Natural Resources and Forests until her removal without explanation on Wednesday, expressed her disappointment during a press event in her riding on Thursday.

Speaking candidly, Vézina admitted that her trust in Premier François Legault and his close advisors has been significantly undermined. Despite her dedication to following the directives provided by the Premier’s office, she remains unclear on the reasoning behind her dismissal.

“I believe I fulfilled my duties as per the guidelines I was given,” Vézina maintained, unable to pinpoint any specific missteps that may have led to her removal.

Throughout her tenure, Vézina encountered several controversies, notably surrounding her efforts to expand a landfill site in Blainville despite opposition from the city and other political factions. Additionally, her Bill 67, designed to overhaul Quebec’s forestry regulations, faced criticism from various quarters.
