The victim of a fatal shooting in Langley on September 5 has been identified as 24-year-old Taran Pandher by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).
According to Langley RCMP, the incident took place on 200th Street and 53rd Avenue just before 10:30 p.m. Responding officers found Pandher at the scene and attempted lifesaving measures, but tragically, he passed away.
The shooting occurred while Pandher was inside a taxi, and authorities suspect it was a targeted attack linked to the ongoing B.C. Gang Conflict.
Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi stated that Pandher had ties to organized crime and was known to law enforcement. IHIT’s Integrated Gang Homicide Team has taken over the case due to its gang-related nature.
In a related development, police received reports of a vehicle fire in the Surrey area on 132nd Street and 64A Avenue around 11 p.m., which investigators believe is connected to the homicide.
IHIT has confirmed that there are no other reported injuries in relation to the incident.
Individuals with dash cam or CCTV footage from either location between 9 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. are urged to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or email ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
