“Montreal Skateboarders Unite in Dynamic Rally to Defend Iconic P45 Park from Looming Redevelopment Plans”

Skateboarders and local residents came together with city officials on Wednesday to address potential changes in Montreal that could impact the future of the beloved P45 DIY skatepark.

Members of the collective, who dedicated their time and resources to building the park from scratch, voiced their concerns about the city’s plans to potentially demolish the park. They emphasized the sentimental value and unique community spirit that P45 holds for them.

Jean Brunelle-Bradette, a passionate skateboarder and one of the park’s creators, expressed his sentiment, saying, “A new skate park won’t be the same; we want to preserve this place that means so much to us.”

Frederique Luyet, another skateboarder and member of the collective, suggested that the city should redirect funds towards repairing other parks in need, rather than dismantling P45. She emphasized the park’s skateability and its popularity among various skaters.

Supporters of the park highlighted its significance as a gathering place that has attracted local residents and international skateboarders alike over the years. They are actively campaigning, with a petition garnering over 8,500 signatures, urging the city to reconsider the demolition plans and focus on restoring the park instead.

Despite the challenges, the community remains determined to preserve P45, with members stressing the cultural importance and global recognition of the park within the skateboarding community.
