A Toronto resident was shocked to find himself wrongly accused of a crime he had no connection to. Michael Mallinson, a retired banker, was taken aback when his daughter frantically called him to delete his social media accounts following a false accusation. The mix-up occurred after conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was tragically shot at a college event in Utah.
Mallinson, who had never heard of Kirk before, was alarmed to discover online posts falsely linking him to the shooting incident. Photos of Mallinson were erroneously circulated, leading to a wave of negative attention and hateful messages being directed at him and his family.
