A 35-year-old man from Tottenham, Diaa Al-Shimmary, has been charged by the York Regional Police for alleged sexual assault and sex trafficking involving a girl under 18 years old. According to authorities, the investigation was initiated in late August after the victim, a teenage girl, reported that the suspect coerced her into providing sexual services over a period spanning from April 1 to August 1, 2025.
The police release states that the suspect not only sexually assaulted the victim but also took explicit photos of her and attempted to arrange clients to visit her for sexual services. It is important to note that these charges are yet to be proven in court.
On September 9, law enforcement officers apprehended the suspect, who was also found to be in possession of illegal drugs. Following this arrest, a search warrant was carried out at a residence in Tottenham, leading to the seizure of an additional quantity of controlled substances.
Diaa Al-Shimmary now faces a range of charges, including sexual assault, sexual interference, procuring a person under 18, luring a child, producing child pornography, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
