A woman in Toronto is facing charges after allegedly using a clever ploy involving a rose to steal a diamond ring from another woman. The incident took place at the Blue Jays Way and Front Street area on a Wednesday in September.
According to the police report, the suspect approached the victim and offered her a rose. Subsequently, the suspect demanded money from the victim. While engaging with the victim, the suspect also managed to massage and kiss her hand, surreptitiously slipping off the valuable diamond ring in the process.
It is believed that the ring was passed to another suspect during the commotion before the suspects fled the scene. Following an investigation, Fraga Munteanu, a 47-year-old Toronto resident, was arrested and charged with one count of theft over $5000.
The authorities have not provided a description of the other suspect involved, who is currently at large.
