Toronto’s SickKids Hospital Crowned Global Leader in Two Pediatric Specialties

Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children, known as SickKids, has once again solidified its global reputation as a top pediatric care facility.

The latest rankings by Newsweek and Statista for the year 2026 have named SickKids as the best hospital in the world for Neonatology and Oncology, surpassing 250 specialized pediatric institutions worldwide.

Among the top 10 hospitals listed are renowned institutions like Boston Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in the UK.

SickKids has consistently ranked among the best pediatric centers globally, achieving the top position for the second time and maintaining a top-two placement for the fifth consecutive year.

Dr. Ronald Cohn, President and CEO of SickKids, expressed immense pride in this achievement, attributing it to the dedication of the hospital staff, trainees, volunteers, and donors.

SickKids’ Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is the largest in Canada, providing advanced care to over 850 critically ill newborns annually, specializing in treating various complex conditions.

Furthermore, the hospital is a leading force in pediatric cancer research and treatment, conducting a significant portion of pediatric organ and bone marrow transplants in Ontario and Canada.
