After serving a seven-year sentence for the rape of a 72-year-old American woman in Portugal, a German national linked to the disappearance of British toddler Madeleine McCann has been released from prison in Sehnde, Germany. The man, identified as Christian Brückner, is still under investigation for his possible involvement in McCann’s vanishing 18 years ago.
Despite ongoing probes by authorities in Germany, Portugal, and the UK, Brückner has not been formally charged in connection with McCann’s disappearance. The suspect, who has consistently denied any role in the case, has also refused to cooperate with the British Metropolitan Police’s inquiries.
While his lawyer insists on his innocence due to lack of evidence, Brückner faces restrictions post-release including wearing an electronic foot tag, regular reporting to probation services, and surrendering his passport. He is scheduled to appear in court in October for allegedly insulting a prison employee.
As investigations continue to unravel the events surrounding Madeleine McCann’s disappearance, the case remains shrouded in mystery and speculation.
