Authorities successfully rescued a missing teenage girl who was reportedly trafficked for sexual exploitation, in a heartwarming turn of events in Peel Region.
The Peel Regional Police, in collaboration with the Longueuil Police, located the young girl from Quebec on September 10, just a day after Quebec officials raised the alarm about her disappearance.
Following diligent investigations, law enforcement pinpointed a rental property in Brampton as a potential link to the case. Subsequently, on the same day, officers apprehended a suspect outside the identified residence. Eventually, the missing girl was discovered at another location and joyfully reunited with her family.
It is alleged by the police that the teenager had been trafficked in Quebec before being recovered in Peel Region.
Facing a slew of charges, including trafficking persons under 18 years old, procuring a person under 18 years old, advertising sexual services, receiving material benefits from sexual services, and possessing an imitation firearm while committing an offense, Nahom Teklahaymanot, a 24-year-old from St. Laurent, Que., was detained for a bail hearing in Brampton.
While the victim’s age has not been disclosed by the authorities, they have confirmed that the investigation remains active and ongoing.
