Authorities in Ontario have pressed over 100 charges against a group of five individuals from Quebec, accusing them of crossing provincial lines to engage in a systematic scheme to steal vehicles in the Greater Toronto Area.
Dubbed Project Egypt, the investigation was initiated by the Durham Regional Police Service’s Auto Theft Unit in June 2025.
According to investigators, the suspects from Quebec are believed to have been involved in the illicit transportation of stolen vehicles from the GTA.
A breakthrough came on September 17, 2025, when law enforcement officers conducted a search at a residence in Mississauga, leading to the apprehension of the five suspects.
Durham police claim that they discovered “offence related property” within the premises during the search.
During the course of their operation, the authorities managed to recover eight stolen vehicles.
A statement released by the DRPS mentioned a previous search warrant executed in Quebec that uncovered around 25 re-vinned stolen vehicles.
The accused individuals, Shainna Faustin (32), Jean-Junior Goureille (24), Kyle Cain (22), Dylan Chimusoro (19), and Joshua Jean-Louis (24), are facing a multitude of charges.
All five suspects have been detained pending bail hearings, with the charges against them yet to be proven in court.
