“Massive Car Theft Ring Busted: Five Suspects Hit With Over 100 Charges in Toronto Sweep”

Five individuals from Quebec have been charged with over 100 offenses by the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) for allegedly participating in a coordinated auto theft ring that involved traveling to the Greater Toronto Area to steal vehicles.

Dubbed Project Egypt and initiated by the DRPS Auto Theft Unit in June 2025, the operation targeted suspects believed to be trafficking stolen vehicles from the GTA.

Following an investigation, a residence in Mississauga was raided on September 17, leading to the arrest of the five suspects. Durham police reported discovering “offence related property” at the location and were able to recover eight stolen vehicles during the course of the probe.

DRPS revealed that a previous search warrant executed in Quebec uncovered around 25 re-vinned stolen vehicles, linking back to the suspects.

The accused, Shainna Faustin (32), Jean-Junior Goureille (24), Kyle Cain (22), Dylan Chimusoro (19), and Joshua Jean-Louis (24), now face a combined total of more than 100 charges. All have been detained for bail hearings, with the allegations against them pending court proceedings.
