Authorities in North York have apprehended a man and a woman in connection with a theft case involving distraction techniques.
The incident unfolded in the vicinity of Rustic and Liscombe roads on September 20, at approximately 2:25 p.m.
According to reports, an elderly individual was targeted while sitting outside their residence. The female suspect engaged the victim in conversation, subsequently diverting their attention and making off with valuable jewelry. The pair abandoned the scene together following the theft.
Ionel Petter, 35, of Toronto, has been taken into custody and is facing charges related to the crime. He is expected to make a court appearance at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre.
Florina Gheorghe, 33, also from Toronto, has been arrested and is likewise being charged in connection with the theft. She is set to appear in court at the same location as her accomplice.
Authorities suspect there may be additional victims impacted by this crime.
