Police Nab Final Suspect, a 15-Year-Old Girl, in Oshawa Pizza Pizza Mob Incident

Durham Regional Police have apprehended the final suspect involved in the attack on a woman at an Oshawa Pizza Pizza establishment last July. The latest arrest was of a 15-year-old girl from Oshawa, charged with assault causing bodily harm. Earlier, a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl faced the same charges in connection with the incident.

According to a witness employed at the popular pizza joint on Wentworth Street W., the assault occurred on July 2 when the owner intervened as a group of young individuals attempted to steal soda cans. The witness, Ferry Bansal, recounted that the victim, a Muslim woman in her 40s, had her hijab forcibly removed during the attack. Despite the traumatic nature of the incident, no racial slurs were reported during the assault.

Bansal expressed shock at the violence, emphasizing that the perpetrators were young individuals. The victim was subjected to repeated punches and stomps, leaving Bansal and others at the scene horrified by the senseless attack.

While the National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) condemned the assault, police indicated that there was no evidence suggesting a hate-motivated crime.
