York Regional Police are currently investigating a recent shooting incident that took place in Vaughan early on Wednesday morning. This incident adds to a series of shootings that have occurred in the area recently.
According to authorities, several 911 calls were made around 3:30 a.m. reporting gunshots heard near Bathurst Street and Major Mackenzie Drive. Upon arrival, police confirmed that individuals, who have not yet been identified, fired shots at a residence.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported from the incident. The suspects managed to flee the scene before law enforcement arrived.
Police officers are actively present in the neighborhood, speaking with potential witnesses and gathering evidence. Residents are advised to expect heightened police activity in the area throughout the day.
The shooting incident occurred near Farrell Road and Via Romano Boulevard, an area that has experienced an increase in gun-related violence recently.
Earlier this month, York Regional Police disclosed that three homes and a vehicle were targeted in separate shooting incidents over a two-day period. In each case, the suspects fled in a dark-colored sedan.
In a recent update, authorities mentioned to CityNews that the most recent shooting incident might be linked to a previous shooting that took place on Sept. 6 at the same address on Farrell Road.
If confirmed, this latest incident would mark the fifth shooting occurrence in the neighborhood within a short period.
Anyone who may have additional information regarding these incidents is urged to reach out to the York Regional Police investigators.
