“Gardiner Makeover Surges Ahead: Project Reaches Milestone 6 Months Early!”

Construction work on a section of the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto is making remarkable progress, with the city reporting that it is six months ahead of schedule. The project, spanning between Dufferin Street and Strachan Avenue, commenced in early August 2024 and was originally slated for completion by the spring of 2026.

Thanks to a $73 million investment from the Ontario government, the construction efforts have been boosted, allowing crews to operate around the clock, seven days a week. With the aid of additional resources and expedited material deliveries, the pace has been significantly accelerated.

The City of Toronto attributes this speedy progress to a combination of favorable weather conditions, efficient problem-solving in real-time, and the absence of unforeseen challenges necessitating major design alterations during construction.

Surpassing expectations, the project is currently six months ahead of its projected timeline, prompting anticipation for an earlier completion date, which will be announced closer to the reopening.

Presently, one lane in each direction between Dufferin and Strachan is closed to facilitate the ongoing construction. Furthermore, the eastbound on-ramp from Lake Shore Boulevard at Jameson Avenue remains inaccessible due to the construction activities.
