“BCGEU Strike Momentum Grows as Additional Liquor Stores Join the Movement”

A growing number of liquor stores in British Columbia will be closed on Thursday due to ongoing strike action by public sector workers.

Yesterday, 25 stores were added to the strike, expanding the protest that had previously included BC Liquor and Cannabis warehouses and the head office.

The BC General Employees’ Union (BCGEU) reported that an additional 37 stores have joined the strike today, bringing the total number of workers involved in the job action to more than 14,900.

BCGEU President Paul Finch stated, “By halting operations at liquor and cannabis facilities and stores, we are emphasizing that public service workers play a vital role in funding essential services like healthcare and education.”

The union is advocating for fair negotiations, highlighting the need for the government to engage in discussions to resolve the dispute promptly and minimize disruptions.
