Today, in a significant development, an inmate is set to plead guilty in the case involving the killing of notorious serial killer Robert Pickton in a prison attack last year. Martin Charest, who was charged with first-degree murder in July following Pickton’s death in a May 2024 assault at the Port-Cartier federal penitentiary, is expected to enter a guilty plea at a court appearance in Sept-Îles, northeast of Quebec City as confirmed by his lawyer.
Robert Pickton, known for his conviction in 2007 on six counts of second-degree murder, had confessed to the gruesome killing of a total of 49 women whom he targeted at his pig farm near Vancouver.
An investigation summary, released recently, revealed that Pickton was attacked by a fellow inmate during medication distribution at the prison on May 19, 2024. Sadly, Pickton succumbed to his injuries 12 days later after his assailant broke a broomstick and thrust the broken end into his face.
