“Canada’s Top Fugitive Captured: Rabih Alkhalil Seized in Qatar After Global Manhunt”

Rabih “Robby” Alkhalil, a notorious Canadian fugitive who evaded authorities after escaping a prison in British Columbia three years ago, has been apprehended in another country, according to the police.

The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU) reported that Alkhalil was captured in Qatar earlier this month.

Alkhalil’s dramatic escape from the North Fraser Pretrial Centre in Port Coquitlam in July 2022, orchestrated with the help of individuals posing as contractors, sparked an intensive manhunt that has finally led to his arrest overseas.

For the past couple of years, Alkhalil has remained on Canada’s Bolo 25 Most Wanted list, with a substantial reward of up to $250,000 for any information that could lead to his capture. Initially, a $50,000 reward was offered for tips as of early September.

Described as an extremely dangerous individual, Alkhalil has a troubling criminal history, including two murder convictions and deep ties to organized crime, as emphasized by Bolo program director Max Langlois.

His escape just before the conclusion of a first-degree murder trial and subsequent guilty verdict in absentia have added to his already extensive criminal record.

Recently, it was announced that a 46-year-old man from British Columbia has been charged with conspiracy to commit prison breach and prison breach in connection with Alkhalil’s escape. Furthermore, two individuals from Ottawa faced similar charges, with one of them being arrested in Spain on September 19.

Reflecting on the arrest, Langlois stated that the apprehension of Rabih Alkhalil signifies the conclusion of a highly intricate fugitive investigation, making it one of the most challenging cases tackled by Bolo since its inception.
