Police have apprehended Rabih Alkhalil, a notorious fugitive who broke out of a British Columbia prison three years ago, in Qatar.
Alkhalil, who had been on the run since escaping the North Fraser Pretrial Centre in 2022 while facing murder charges, was captured by authorities in Qatar, according to the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU).
Efforts are now underway by Canadian Mounties and Interpol to extradite Alkhalil back to Canada to face justice for his escape and pending criminal charges. Additionally, three individuals have recently been charged for their alleged involvement in aiding Alkhalil’s escape.
