Quebec Welcomes First Canadian Premier League Soccer Team

Exciting news has arrived for soccer fans in Quebec as the Canadian Premier League (CPL) has announced the launch of its first team based in the Greater Montreal Area. Set to kick off in April 2026, this marks a significant advancement for professional soccer in the province and for the CPL, now in its seventh season.

During a special event at Complexe Multi-Sports de Laval, the team’s name, crest, and colors were unveiled to the public. The new franchise will call Stade Boréale in Laval its home ground, sharing the venue with Roses FC of the Northern Super League.

This inaugural CPL team will introduce professional men’s soccer to Quebec, providing a platform for local players to showcase their talent and elevate the sport in the region.

Rocco Placentino, the club’s co-founder and president, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Quebec is producing world-class talent, and with the arrival of a Canadian Premier League team in the province, we now have a platform that will allow local players to shine, inspire the next generations, and compete at the highest level in the country.”

Placentino, a former Canadian international and Montreal Impact midfielder, brings his expertise to lead the new franchise, emphasizing the team’s commitment to featuring homegrown talent from Quebec.

The club’s operations will be based at Stade Boréale, aligning with a growing sports hub in Laval and signaling a strategic development in Canadian professional soccer.

Supported by a group of investors deeply invested in the region and the sport, the team’s launch signifies CPL’s expansion into Quebec and further strengthens its national presence.
