“NDP MP Sounds Alarm Amid Canada’s Push to Restore Ties with China!”

NDP Member of Parliament Jenny Kwan warns Canada to tread carefully in repairing trade relations with China amidst concerns of foreign interference. While emphasizing the importance of expanding trade partnerships, Kwan stresses the need to safeguard Canada’s sovereignty and democracy.

During a meeting between Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Chinese premier at the UN, discussions were described as constructive. Carney’s parliamentary secretary, Kody Blois, recently visited China with Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe in an effort to persuade Beijing to lift tariffs on Canadian canola.

Blois highlights the government’s stance on the necessity of seeking ways to collaborate with countries despite disagreements. A recent public inquiry identified China as the primary instigator of foreign interference in Canadian democratic institutions.

Jenny Kwan, the MP representing Vancouver East, secured her seat in the recent election with over 43% of the votes. She joins fellow B.C. NDP MPs Don Davies and Gord Johns in advocating for Canada’s interests.
