RCMP Smash Covert Dark Web Drug Empire, Seven Nabbed in GTA-wide Sting

Canadian Authorities Bust Major Dark Web Drug Ring, Arrest Seven Suspects

A significant dark web drug trafficking operation in Canada has been successfully dismantled by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in a major crackdown. This high-profile bust, involving multiple arrests and the confiscation of a substantial amount of illegal substances, marks a crucial milestone in Canadian law enforcement history.

The investigation was triggered after German authorities took down a dark web marketplace and shared vital information with global partners, leading to the identification of Canadian-based individuals suspected of running a large-scale drug trafficking network. Acting swiftly, the RCMP Cybercrime Unit in Vancouver initiated the probe, which was later transferred to authorities in Milton, Ontario for further action.

During the course of the operation, law enforcement officials uncovered a key player operating under the alias “RoadRunna,” believed to be the mastermind behind the widespread distribution of controlled substances throughout Canada. It is estimated that the group was shipping approximately 400 packages of illicit drugs every week.

Following the execution of search warrants in Ontario, a staggering 75 kilograms of various narcotics, such as cocaine, MDMA, methamphetamine, heroin, and ketamine, were seized. Additionally, authorities confiscated 10,000 tablets, electronic devices, and packaging materials bearing the “RoadRunna” label, further implicating the suspects in the illegal drug trade.

Seven individuals hailing from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) have been apprehended and are facing a slew of charges, including conspiracy, trafficking, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and weapons-related offenses in connection to the operation.

The dark web, known as an encrypted section of the internet accessible only via specialized software, is commonly utilized for illicit activities such as drug and weapon sales, with transactions predominantly conducted using cryptocurrency.

For those with any pertinent information relating to drug trafficking activities, the Ontario RCMP urges them to come forward and assist in combating the illicit drug trade.
