“Arson Horror at Oakville Cinema: Attack Linked to Screening of Indian Films, Management Denounces as ‘Cowardly'”

A cinema in Oakville, Canada, was targeted in an arson attack, believed to be linked to the screening of Indian films. Film.ca Cinemas captured footage of two suspects pouring gasoline and setting fire to the entrance of the cinema in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The cinema, located at 171 Speers Rd., expressed that this was not the first time they had faced threats and vandalism related to showing Indian films. Video evidence revealed a grey SUV arriving at the cinema at 2 a.m., with the suspects returning multiple times before a white SUV arrived at 5:19 a.m. carrying jerry cans.

Despite the damage caused by the fire, the cinema announced that they are continuing operations as usual, showcasing movies including the Telugu-language film “They Call Him OG.” CEO Jeff Knoll emphasized that they will not be deterred by acts of violence, stating that Film.Ca Cinemas remains a place for the community to gather.

The company is working closely with Halton Regional Police, who are investigating the incident and seeking two suspects described as wearing specific clothing items and carrying red gas cans. Enhanced security measures have been implemented at the cinema to ensure the safety of patrons.
