York Regional Police in Vaughan are once again on high alert as two homes were hit by gunfire in the early hours of Wednesday morning. This incident marks the latest in a series of targeted shootings that have shaken the city.
The unsettling events unfolded around 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 24 when law enforcement received reports of shots fired at a residence on Farrell Road, situated near the junction of Bathurst Street and Major Mackenzie Drive. Witnesses recounted seeing a silver SUV lurking in the vicinity at the time of the shooting. The vehicle swiftly fled northward towards Allison Ann Way, where another home was then subjected to gunfire just minutes later.
Although both houses were occupied during the terrifying ordeal, thankfully, no injuries were sustained.
This is not the first time these particular homes have been targeted. Earlier this month, they were also subjected to gunfire, contributing to the escalating pattern of violence in Vaughan. Similar incidents have been reported at other locations in the city, such as Pottery Place and Lady Angela Way.
According to authorities, the suspected shooter is described as a male with a slender build, standing at around 5 feet 10 inches tall. The suspect’s vehicle is believed to be a silver SUV or a Honda CR-V.
Further investigations have revealed that multiple homes within the same neighborhood have been hit by bullets in separate incidents, including a prior shooting on Farrell Road on Sept. 6.
The York Regional Police’s Hold Up Unit has taken charge of the investigation and is urging any witnesses, especially those with dashcam or surveillance footage from the vicinity, to come forward and assist in solving this troubling case.
