Élections Montréal Announces At-Home Voting Option for Voters with Health Constraints

Montreal Elections is urging voters who cannot travel due to health reasons to request to vote from home, ensuring their right to vote is exercised.

Montreal Elections announced on Friday that individuals facing travel limitations have until October 16 to request to vote from home, with the voting day set for October 25.

To avail this option, eligible voters must be registered and can make the request by contacting Montreal Elections at 514-872-8683 or via email.

In a related development, voters opting to cast their votes from home, including caregivers, will have the convenience of using a mobile ballot box brought to them by election officials.

Furthermore, voting has been made more convenient for Montreal residents residing in seniors’ homes.

Montreal Elections has arranged for polling stations to be set up in seniors’ residences, ensuring easier access for a larger number of voters. It is anticipated that over 70 residences accommodating more than 100 residents each will have a mobile polling station on October 25.

Emmanuel Tani-Moore highlighted the significance of facilitating voting for older adults and others unable to travel during the COVID-19 pandemic. He expressed pride in the changes that now allow seniors and individuals with travel constraints to fulfill their civic duty on October 25.

Anticipating a heightened voter turnout this year, Montreal Elections is providing multiple days of advanced polling with over 200 locations available on October 26.

Election day is scheduled for November 2, allowing Montrealers to cast their votes between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
