Wisconsin Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Shooting of Former Ontario Hockey Player
Authorities in Wisconsin apprehended a suspect on Friday in connection with the tragic death of Giovanni Michael Robinson, a 32-year-old man hailing from Stouffville, Ontario. Robinson was fatally shot in an apparent drive-by shooting that took place early Wednesday in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin.
Following the discovery of Robinson’s body with a fatal gunshot wound, the Sheboygan Falls police department, along with support from neighboring law enforcement agencies, executed a search warrant on Friday.
In a related development, a 35-year-old man has been taken into custody and charged with first-degree reckless homicide in connection with the case.
Robinson, a former player in the Ontario Hockey League with the Niagara IceDogs from 2012 to 2014, continued his sporting career with five seasons of men’s hockey at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology between 2014 and 2019. Subsequently, he played professionally in Europe for a year.
Describing the shooting as a “senseless act,” police have promised to provide updates on the investigation during an upcoming press conference scheduled for next week.
