During a speech to his supporters in Gatineau, CAQ leader François Legault stated that both the Quebec Liberal Party (QLP) and the Parti Québécois (PQ) lack the capability to govern Quebec. Drawing parallels to the resilient boxer Rocky Balboa, Legault confidently declared that the CAQ is the only team prepared to lead Quebec through challenging times.
Legault questioned the readiness of the PLQ and the PQ to manage critical aspects such as healthcare, the economy, and handling a pandemic. He criticized Liberal leader Pablo Rodriguez for his stance on secularism and accused PQ leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon of fixating on a sovereignty referendum.
Asserting that the CAQ is the most suitable team to address the current economic crisis, Legault hinted at reducing the tax burden on Quebecers to ease financial pressures. He emphasized that the CAQ is committed to putting money back into the pockets of struggling individuals.
At their recent convention, CAQ members focused on public safety concerns, with some activists expressing doubts about Legault’s leadership. Despite such dissent, Legault remains determined to secure a third consecutive term for the CAQ in 2026.
The CAQ also announced plans for a comprehensive mental health bill to overhaul the outdated Bill P-38, aimed at ensuring proper care for individuals with mental health issues. Highlighting the need to prevent the “revolving door syndrome” in mental health facilities, the CAQ emphasized the importance of protecting both the public and vulnerable individuals in crisis situations.
