“Ontario Liberals Ignite Leadership Race: Who Will Take the Helm?”

The Ontario Liberal Party (OLP) is gearing up to select its new leader following the resignation of Bonnie Crombie earlier this month.

In a recent announcement, the party’s executive council revealed the formation of a “Leadership Vote Committee” to manage the upcoming leadership contest.

Kathryn McGarry, President of the Ontario Liberal Party, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “This signifies a pivotal moment for our Party as we strive to rebuild and revitalize our movement.”

Heading the committee is the party’s treasurer, Gabriel Sékaly, alongside McGarry and Executive Vice-President David Farrow, among others.

The committee’s primary goal is to engage OLP members through a survey to gather opinions on how to conduct a fair, interactive, and inclusive leadership vote.

As Bonnie Crombie steps down, the Ontario Liberal party is embarking on its third leadership race in five years. Crombie, who initially intended to continue as leader after receiving 57% approval in her leadership review, will be succeeded by the chosen leader who will face Doug Ford in the 2029 Ontario provincial election.
