Three teenagers from Toronto have been accused of participating in an armed robbery in Ajax. Prior to this incident, two of the teenagers were already under court-mandated conditions due to previous robbery charges.
According to Durham Police, the authorities received a call just before midnight on Sept. 28 regarding a robbery at a Shoppers Drug Mart in Ajax, located at 15 Westney Road North.
Reports suggest that masked individuals armed with hammers and baseball bats entered the store and proceeded to smash fragrance displays. The suspects then made off with a significant amount of perfume before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.
Subsequently, law enforcement located the suspected vehicle on Highway 401. After an attempt to evade the police, the vehicle was stopped, and all three suspects were apprehended.
It was determined that the vehicle in question had been stolen.
Charges were laid against a 15-year-old and two 16-year-olds from Toronto for multiple offences. Due to their ages, their identities are safeguarded by the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Authorities revealed that the 15-year-old had recently received probation for a prior robbery, while one of the 16-year-olds was previously charged and is currently out on bail for a robbery involving a firearm.
The trio was detained for bail hearings.
