The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is currently addressing a system outage affecting primary inspection kiosks (PIK) at various Canadian airports, including Toronto Pearson. Passengers are being redirected to manual processing lines, causing longer wait times.
In a recent statement, the CBSA assured that safety and security standards are being maintained during this disruption. Officers are diligently conducting all necessary verifications to ensure thorough processing.
The technical issue, which started earlier in the day, has resulted in delays for some travelers. Frustrated passengers have taken to social media to showcase the ongoing delays at Pearson Airport.
One passenger, responding to a CBSA post, expressed concerns about not being allowed to disembark from the plane, questioning how they would catch their connecting flight to Quebec.
Meanwhile, a passenger flying from Zagreb, Croatia to Toronto reported a lengthy wait upon arrival. Although it is uncertain if this delay is linked directly to the kiosk malfunction.
Despite the inconvenience, the CBSA has stated that flight schedules have not been disrupted due to the incident.
