Maple Leafs Secure Future Between the Pipes, Ink Goalie Anthony Stolarz to $15 Million, 4-Year Mega Deal!

The Toronto Maple Leafs have secured their goaltending future with a significant move, as they announced the signing of goaltender Anthony Stolarz to a lucrative four-year contract extension worth $15 million on Sunday. This deal gives Stolarz an average annual value of $3.75 million.

This decision marks a crucial moment for the team, especially with goaltender Joseph Woll currently on an indefinite leave of absence for personal reasons. At 31 years old, Stolarz is now set to take on the primary goaltending role for Toronto in the upcoming 2025–26 season.

Stolarz made a notable entry into the Maple Leafs as a free agent in 2024 after serving as the backup to Sergei Bobrovsky during the Florida Panthers’ 2024 Stanley Cup journey. In his debut season with Toronto, he participated in 34 games, where he achieved an impressive 21-8-3 record, leading the league with a .926 save percentage and a 2.14 goals-against average.

His stellar performance placed him at the top for save percentage and third for goals-against average among goaltenders with a minimum of 25 appearances.

As Woll remains out of the lineup, the Maple Leafs have brought in veteran James Reimer to training camp on a professional tryout, competing for the backup goaltender position.

Originally selected by the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round of the 2012 NHL Draft, Stolarz has accumulated 142 NHL games across various teams, including Philadelphia, Edmonton, Anaheim, Florida, and now Toronto, boasting a career record of 64-39-12 with a notable .918 save percentage.
