“Ontario Man Faces Charges in Massive Arms Haul: 48 Guns, 17,000 Rounds of Ammo Seized by CBSA”

A man in Windsor, Ontario, is facing charges related to smuggling and firearms after Canadian border officers seized a significant cache of weapons and ammunition. The Canada Border Services Agency revealed that a total of 48 firearms, along with various gun parts and a staggering 17,000 rounds of ammunition, were confiscated in the operation.

According to the CBSA, officers at border crossings in Windsor, Toronto, and Montreal intercepted four parcels containing firearms parts and tools used in manufacturing guns, which were sent from the United States to the same address in Windsor during May and June.

Following this discovery, a search warrant was executed in July at the Windsor address, leading to the seizure of the firearms, including 30 prohibited auto sears used to convert semi-automatic guns into fully automatic machine guns, as well as 175 magazines and the aforementioned 17,000 rounds of ammunition.

A 30-year-old Windsor resident was taken into custody and charged with multiple offenses, such as smuggling controlled devices, unauthorized importation of prohibited devices, and attempting to manufacture a firearm. The individual was slated to appear in court on Monday.

In response to the incident, Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree commended the CBSA for its role as the country’s primary defense against crime and gun smuggling. He emphasized the importance of preventing illegal weapons from entering communities, stating that curbing this threat is crucial for public safety.
