The Conservative Party in British Columbia has reorganized its critics’ roles following the departure of Elenore Sturko from the party. Party Leader John Rustad stated that the changes aim to enhance oversight across all ministries. Rustad himself has taken on the role of critic for Indigenous relations and reconciliation, a position he previously held in the B.C. Liberal government.
Scott McInnis, the former Indigenous critic, has shifted to cover tourism, the Columbia Basin Trust, and serve as deputy Indigenous relations critic.
One notable change includes newly appointed rookie MLA Macklin McCall as the critic for the solicitor general and public safety, replacing Sturko. Sturko is currently an Independent MLA after being removed from the caucus by Rustad following his successful leadership review, where he garnered around 70 percent of the vote.
