“Port of Montreal Gears Up for Major Expansion: Preparatory Phase Set to Launch”

The Montreal Port Authority (MPA) is moving forward with its expansion plans in Contrecoeur, as confirmed by the recent announcement. Scheduled to kick off this fall, the preparatory phase will involve various essential tasks such as setting up fences and access roads, creating work platforms, selective tree cutting, and developing necessary office spaces.

This significant port expansion initiative is part of the list of projects highlighted by the Major Projects Office, which was introduced by Prime Minister Mark Carney during a recent presentation in Edmonton. The MPA has been granted the required authorizations for the preparatory work, except for the installation of a diversion fence, which is still pending approval under the Species at Risk Act.

Exciting developments lie ahead as the Montreal Port Authority progresses with its expansion project in Contrecoeur, aiming to enhance and optimize its operations for the future.
