Kap’s Café, a popular spot in Surrey owned by Bollywood star Kapil Sharma, has reopened after being targeted by gunfire twice this summer. The café, located on 120th Street and 85th Avenue, had its windows damaged in the shootings that took place on July 10 and August 7, but fortunately, no one was injured in either incident.
Following the August 7 shooting, the Surrey Police Service found a suspicious object resembling a Molotov cocktail outside the café. Despite these unsettling events, the café has now reopened its doors, operating from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. with a visible police presence to ensure safety.
Investigations into the shootings are ongoing, with no suspects identified or arrests made yet. The motive behind the attacks remains unclear, leading to concerns within Surrey’s South Asian community. With multiple extortion-related incidents reported, including threats to businesses and individuals, the city has taken action by launching a task force and allocating a reward fund of $250,000 for information that could lead to convictions.
