Montreal Home Sales Surge by 11% in September
In a positive turn of events for the real estate market, Montreal-area home sales experienced an impressive 11% increase in September compared to the previous year. The Quebec Professional Association of Real Estate Brokers reported a total of 3,520 home sales in the Montreal census metropolitan area, a notable rise from 3,176 sales during the same month last year.
Breaking away from traditional trends, the sales volume surpassed historical averages by approximately 620 more transactions for the month of September over the past 25 years. Additionally, new listings surged by 17%, with 7,135 homes entering the market.
The median price for a single-family home in Montreal reached $632,500, marking a significant seven percent increase from the previous year. Meanwhile, the median price for condominiums rose by four percent to $430,000.
The positive momentum was not limited to Montreal, as home sales across the province also saw an 11% uptick from the previous year, totaling 7,645 deals.
