North Vancouver’s Ironworkers Bridge Reopens Following Dramatic Vehicle Blaze

The Ironworkers Memorial Bridge experienced a temporary closure on its northbound lanes connecting Vancouver and North Vancouver on a Thursday afternoon due to a vehicle catching fire in the middle of the span.

Emergency responders swiftly blocked off all northbound lanes and one southbound lane to address the fire incident, causing significant traffic delays along Highway 1. The congestion extended all the way back to the intersection with Willingdon Avenue.

Reports from callers to 1130 NewsRadio indicated that the bridge was cleared by 1 p.m., and all lanes were reopened, although residual delays were expected.
