A pedestrian is in critical condition following a severe accident that took place in Maple Ridge on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Laity Street and Lougheed Highway, prompting a swift response from BC Emergency Health Services. Paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after 6:15 a.m. to attend to the injured individual.
Paramedic public information officer Brian Twaites confirmed that emergency medical treatment was administered to the patient before they were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Reports indicate that the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle traveling in the westbound direction. The victim is currently receiving medical care for severe injuries sustained in the collision.
The driver involved in the accident remained present and cooperated fully with law enforcement officials who are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
Authorities are urging any witnesses or individuals in possession of dash-cam footage related to the incident to reach out to the Ridge Meadows RCMP with information.
