The prestigious Siminovitch Prize, celebrating mid-career stage artists, has announced its four finalists for the 25th edition, with a grand prize of $100,000 and increased runner-up awards. Among the finalists are Ravi Jain from Toronto, known for his acclaimed production of the Sanskrit epic “Mahabharata,” and Anne-Marie Olivier from Quebec City, a recipient of the 2018 Governor General’s Literary Award for drama.
Also vying for the prize are Estelle Shook from Armstrong, B.C., the artistic director of Caravan Farm Theatre, and Adrienne Wong from Victoria and Calgary, recognized for her innovative participatory and live-digital performances.
The winner of the Siminovitch Prize will have the opportunity to select a protégé to receive $25,000, while the three finalists can nominate an emerging artist for a $5,000 award. The recipient of this prestigious award will be unveiled on December 1, 2025.
This year, the Siminovitch Prize expanded its scope to welcome nominations from all artistic fields, diverging from its usual focus on designers, directors, and playwrights. Thanks to new philanthropic commitments, the increased prize money is set to continue, with contributions from the National Arts Centre English Theatre, the William and Nona Heaslip Foundation, and the Power Corporation of Canada.
