“Chilliwack Man Handed 13-Year Sentence After Drug Crimes & Attempted Prison Guard Bribery”

A Chilliwack man, William Michael Dow, has been handed a sentence of over 13 years in prison for his involvement in illicit drug and weapons activities, following nearly three months of evading authorities.

According to RCMP, Dow had evaded arrest on multiple warrants since failing to show up for sentencing on June 25. He was eventually apprehended on Sept. 17 in Chilliwack.

Prior to his sentencing, Dow had pleaded guilty to various charges, including possession of weapons and illegal substances.

In a shocking revelation, it was disclosed that Dow had attempted to bribe an off-duty corrections officer at Kent Institution to smuggle contraband into the prison in October 2020.

The initial drug and weapons charges against Dow were the result of an extensive investigation that commenced in November 2019. This investigation led to the discovery of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, and a prohibited handgun at Dow’s residence.

Following the attempted bribery incident, authorities executed a second search warrant on Dow, uncovering additional illicit substances and yet another illegal firearm.

This story, originally reported by The Canadian Press on Oct. 2, 2025, sheds light on the consequences faced by individuals involved in criminal activities.
